2014 Selection Pinot Noir
"Clean and bright in the glass, brilliant ruby center and light pink on the outer rim. The nose shows a beautiful intensity of fresh red cherry, wild red plum and cranberry sauce. There is a combination of dried red cherry as well as fresh, with a touch of red apple skin, violets and delicately integrated oak notes of vanilla, cinnamon and toast. A stamp of stone, mineral and dried leaves are present in the aroma as well as the palate - this earth driven backbone provides depth and added layers to the core of fruit. The palate is delicate and clean with plenty of bright red fruit flavors that find balance with the stone, oak components and floral notes. There are some interesting and exotic notes of clove, dried orange peel and Indian spice. The tannin and acidity are moderate, but offer just the right amount of structure to keep the wine perfectly balanced. This 2014 is super fresh and really shows the quality of the vintage - it should be compact and chiseled for many years to come. Very tasty." - Brett Zimmerman, Master Sommelier

The fruit was 100% destemmed with a high percentage of whole berries to 1.5 ton fermenters. An average of four days of cold soak ensured gentle yet thorough extraction of color and flavor. The small lots were fermented with BRG, BGY, 71B, and wild strain yeasts for an average of seven days and hand punched two to three times daily. The wine was aged twenty months in mixed two year old French cooperage before being blended and bottled. This wine was minimally processed from free run juice without fining or filtration.
