Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
This full-bodied Pinot Noir opens with aromas of candied Bing cherry and spice. The mouth is round and supple, with firm yet graceful tannin. Cherry, red raspberry, spice and vanilla linger on the finish - with a gentle kiss of acidity to finish clean.
Vineyard Notes
Fruit was harvested from our Delaney and Hylo vineyards both being higher elevation sites (both over 700 feet) in the South Salem Hills. Vineyard practices are the leading factor in high quality fruit, and the vineyard management follows a strict regime. Shoot thinning is performed early in the year; after fruit set, leaves are removed in the fruit zone on the east side of the vines. Later, the clusters are counted and thinned to a maximum of 28 clusters per vine. Once the grapes have achieved 75% color, a final cluster thinning is performed to remove any green or second crop clusters.
Production Notes
The 2017 season started three weeks later than 2016 but would be more in line with a “traditional” Oregon harvest. Crop yields were up by 15-20%, but with high quality fruit, with great flavor 250 cases produced
Winemaker Notes
Open top fermentation in 1.5 Ton lots; punchdowns 2x daily; 14 day ferment. Aged in 100% French oak, 33% new
