2019 Willamette Valley Chardonnay
Duck Pond Cellars
Previous Vintage Tasting Notes
In the glass this wine is a brilliant pale straw color with hints of gold and slight green hues. The nose is vivid and clean with refreshing notes of golden apple, Asian pear, and white peach. There is a lees influence offering notes of Parmesan and damp earth, yet balanced with exotic tones of tropical fruit, including banana and mango. Minerality on the nose is marked by wet rocks, dust, and button mushrooms. There is very little to no aromatic influence from oak other than a touch of fresh cream that may also be the result of lees influence.
On the palate, the wine echoes the fruit and earth tones with vibrance and freshness. Loads of apple and pear with the accent of earth and lees lingering on the long finish. Again there is very little oak influence on the palate, only delicate layers of cinnamon and spice that unfold as the wine warms in the glass. This wine is driven by purity of fruit and mineral character with oak and lees adding subtle complexity to the structure and background of the finished product.
This wine is delicious and easy to drink with classic Chardonnay personality and charm. It is traditionally styled with refreshing flavors that make this wine approachable and pleasing to a wide range of wine consumers.
