After 5 years of warm vintages with a dry harvest window, 2019 was a return to "classic" Oregon. A warm spring gave normal timing to budbreak and flowering. Summer was warm without the heat spikes of recent Augusts allowing the fruit to ripen evenly. The fall weather pattern came early bringing with it extreme bird pressure. Up to 3" of rain in September forced harvest into a compressed window. Proper vineyard management was critical to deliver sound, ripe fruit while wineries had to show patience in making pick decisions. The wines produced show bright aromatics and clean fruit flavors. Good acidity provides structure for the wine to age over time.
