2020 Duck Pond Natural Path Pinot Noir Reserve

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Our 2020 release of Willamette Valley Reserve Pinot Noir is ruby in color with a deep core and light rim. In the glass dark cherry and molasses aromas rise with hints of sarsaparilla. Notes of baking spice and soil add depth and complexity. On the palate, rich black cherry and rhubarb leads to savory notes of bay leaf and soil. The moderate acidity and delicate tannin bring balance and a velvety texture to the long finish.

Production Notes
2020 began with a cool, wet spring. Budbreak was tracking in a normal pattern, while rain during bloom caused yields to be lower than normal - focusing concentration of berry and flavor development. A cooler than normal July and August helped the fruit ripen slowly and evenly, with a heat bump in the first week of September to help finish out the year. Grapes were harvested in October.
Winemaker Notes
The wine was 100% destemmed into stainless steel fermentation vessels and cold soaked from 3 and 5 days for extraction of color and flavor, then fermented at moderate temperatures to promote flavor development and increase complexity. A selection of favorite barrels from the vintage, this limited release is an elevated expression of our Duck Pond Pinot Noir.
